Re: tired of stalling....very disgusted

First thing we have to find out is what is missing when it stalls and wont restart....fuel or spark...this will lead us in the right direction..
When the engine stalls and wont restart, remove 1 plug wire from the plug and place the boot close to a ground (engine metal) spin the engine over and see if you hear or see spark jumping out of the boot.
After that, depress the shrader valve on the fuel line and see if gas sprays out (be careful, gas is under high pressure)
Post the results and we will go from there

I'm in the same situation. My 97 GTP has been in my garage for two weeks. My car has 103,000. I drove it 2 Sundays ago and went to leave someones house and the engine turned over ran for 5 secs then shut down.

I went and bought a new fuel filter $13.26, new fuel Pump $302.83 I installed both of them over this passed weekend the problems still not fixed... Last night I checked the fuel pump relay and the INJ fuse no problems there. Did you remove your air box cover and try and spray carb cleaner in there??? That will at least let you know if it's indeed a fuel problem.. You should start your car and have someone spray carb cleaner in there, don't give it any gas see if your car stays running.

If it stays running then you have a sensor problem, You may have a crankshaft position sensor problem it turns the pulley and the fly wheel so your engine engages and runs. I have had my car for 4 years and at 81,000 miles I did have to replace the alternator. Do you have a tester to hook up to your alternator to see if your alternator has any power. If you don't have the tool some local auto zone stores will lend you one. Your best bet would be to find some one you now that has a OTC testor or a TEch 2 scanner. Which will diagnos any problems. The crankshaft sensor is located behind your right front wheel, you will have to take your wheel off and then the splash guard off. You will see a pulley with a bolt right in the center, this is your crankshaft balancer remove that then the sensor is right behind it. If you have a chitlons repair manual then it will show you how to remove the part and in stal the sensor. I actually had my car in the paper for sale and a guy came last night to look at it even though its not running and told me he would take it with the crankshaft sensor and he would fix it.. I MANAGED TO GET RID OF IT FOR A 1995 Z71 STEPSIDE CHEVY .

If you have any questions feel free to email me @ [email protected]

If you spend a little time checking the basics and find out what is missing from the air, fuel, spark and compression combination that makes the engine run, you can narrow down what is at fault.
Diagnositics takes a little time, but it can and will save you money in the long run.
Why spend money on parts you don't need only to have the frustration of finding out that your problem is not fixed.
