Boxer's Girlfriend Shot, Arrest Warrant Issued For Champ

PITTSBURGH -- Boxer Paul Spadafora's 20-year-old girlfriend was shot at a gas station on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the McKees Rocks BP gas station on Island Avenue at 5:54 a.m. where they found Nadine Russo shot.

According to police, Russo was shot once in the chest and is in critical condition at an area trauma center.

Spadafora's boxing promoter, Michael Acri, said Spadafora was with Russo at the time of the shooting and claims that they stopped at the gas station because they had a flat tire.

Allegheny County police are seeking Spadafora on an outstanding warrant for criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and violation of the uniform firearms act.

Channel 4 Action News is being told that Spadafora has been meeting with his attorney Sunday.

Last week, Spadafora was arrested for allegedly urinating on a Pittsburgh street.
