Civic Hatch or DSM?

Hi,

I am kinda stuck between what I am going to do.
I love my civic but I really want a hatch.
I am probably going to buy a 1st gen DSM for between 1500-2000.
Or I could find a 88-91 Civic hatch and get a ZC swap done.
Which one would you recommend I do?
ALso how much would it cost for a shop to install a ZC engine plus get the engine for me?
Thanks

Are you serious? The 6-bolt 4G63 is one of the greatest motors out there, and turbo is always nice. DSM's are vary fun to drive as well and they can come in AWD. My brother has a 1G talon and I had a 90 Hatch, I would drive his car over mine any day. Also, a stock DSM will be faster stock than your ZC hatch. The only real draw back to a DSM is insurance, so if that is an issue you may want the hatch. But over all, a DSM is a way better car than a civic.

actually, i raced a 1g talon tsi with my z6 with bolt ons.. i lost by maybe 6 feet and i missed 3rd gear.. he did take off a shitload quicker than i did though.. awd is nice for launch.

sure, the tsi and gs-t/gs-x are 190hp, but they also weigh in at a porky 3000 lbs.

Re: Civic Hatch or DSM?

I'd say go for the DSM - how about a Galant VR-4(one of the best sleepers)The 1st time I ever saw one was @ the track lined up against a bad ass supra. The damn galant smoked the supra, both running low 11's.

And for those of you who haven't seen the famous 13 second DSM getting smoked by one bad ass C5 vette, here it is(its worth the wait on 56K!!!!!!!!) http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c5/99z51r/ -- link for the video is at the bottom of the page.

Re: Re: Re: Civic Hatch or DSM?

That is the same car, in the video the mods were DRM 450 top end, NX 150 shot nitrous, B&B Headers and PRT exhaust, Donaldson filter, Baer rotors, Z06 fuel rail covers and front screens, B&M ripper, Chrome ZO6's, Lowered 1 1/2".
The super charger has been added since & also the nitrous reduced. Hood cut & Z06 rear ducts added.

....And the car is RED!
Also it is not a Lingenfelter, its a Rippie.

If you like having a car in the shop all the time, get the DSM. If not than stick with a Honda.
