73 Valiant axle swap help?

I bought a 73 Valiant a couple weeks ago, and started resto on it. I found out it has the 7.25 rear, and there is no LSD's availible for it. So, I want to swap in an 8.25 axle. I found an 8.25 in a junkyard from a 78 dodge aspen, I am wondering if this will work? I know most people go with the 8.75, but I don't need that nor do I want to spend that kind of money. I need to know things like will my driveshaft hook up to the 8.25? Will the whole rear end fit underneath or will I need to shorten it?
Has anybody done this before? Or if anybody knows of a LSD or locker for the 7.25 I would really appreciate if you would tell me.
Thanks

Yeah I already belong to Moparts website. I got a lot of info, but it doesn't sound like anyone has done this swap before. I think everybody goes to the 8.75, or a Dana 60. Well I'm not looking to put 500+ HP to the rear, but I will have over 300 so I need some traction. Since there are no LSD's for the 7.25, I'm screwed. Plus the 7.25 is SO tiny, I couldn't believe the size difference between the 7.25 and the 8.25, the pumkin is like twice the size. I think I would blow the 7.25 with just the 320 HP I'm going to put to it.
BTW I have a built 273, yes I am going to swap to an engine with less cubic inches! But twice the HP. Comp cams Solid lifter cam, aluminum adjustable roller rockers, offenhouser intake, edelbrock carb, .040 overbore, it's a little screamer. Of course everybody prefers a 340, but I'm going a little different. High stall converter(2400 RPM), 3.55 gears with a trac-lok diff, BFG 235/60/15 rear tires with Cragar wheels. High lift rear springs are going on too when I change the axle. I got the engine built and running already though, so thats cool.
Right now I'm just dreaming, because the 318 is going to stay in it until next summer. In the mean time I'll get headers, dual 2.5'', and change the rear to the 8.25 with posi and 3.55's. I don't think I'm going to change the carb to a 4 bbl, I don't want to risk blowing the engine up and having to let the car sit all winter. I want to be able to drive it.
