Tranny Wont Downshift Sometimes

Hi,

I have a 90' LX with the stock 5 speed tranny.
All most most of the time when I driving lets say 55 in 5th gear and I want to drop it into 3rd to take off it wont downshift.
The shifter doesnt seem to want to move untill I slow down to like 40-45 mph and put it into 4th then into 3rd.
Sometimes it will actually go into 3rd though from 5th.
I have a APC short shifter installed but i dont know if thats the problem.
Thanks

Your syncros may not be lining up, causing the tranny not to go in gear. Give the throttle alittle tap and see if it doesnt want to go into gear from 5th to 3rd.

Re: Tranny Wont Downshift Sometimes

Try rev-matching when downshifting or you will cause damage to the synchors, bearings, etc. I would call it driver error.
