Idea

Definatley one good investment is Exhaust. not only does it looks nice and sound amazing, you can get an extra 8-12hp out of it.
It's a head turner and even if you don't have huge stuff under the hood, it still sounds like it. heh heh heh. Plus when your driving it just sounds so nice inside and out.

Also look into a Cold air intake and filter.

A friend of mine has an '00 I4 Accord with I/H/E and an Apex'i V-AFC.
Here's a dyno chart. The first run represents I/H/E and unoptomized A/F and VTEC settings. The second run was done after the V-AFC tuning was complete.

You'll notice gains across the board. The most interesting thing is that he's spinning 144 hp at the wheels (18", I might add). With just bolt-ons and optomized electronic settings, that's pretty near to the crank hp claimed by Honda.

With cam work, cam gears and some Unorthodox Racing pulleys, I'm sure that the f23b could be putting out 160-165 hp at the wheels.

u can go with i/h/e and get about a max gain of 10-15 hp but only get about 5-7hp through the whole rpm band.

oh yeah...wut exactly is an Apex'i V-AFC?? Sorry i'm so retarded, but i'm really really new to this...thanks:smoka:

Well, 165 HP is a pretty optomistic estimate... I also included a new camshaft in that laundry list, but I can't seem to find a company that makes one for the F23b, though I'm sure they exist.

I'd say maybe an even 150 if you do I/H/E and the other bolt ons. That's pretty good though... I've seen USDM H22a's dyno at 158.

The Apex'i V-AFC is a piggyback fuel computer that allows variables in your ECU to be modified. It is capable of changing your air/fuel mixture to different ratios at different points throughout the rev range. It is also capable of changing your VTEC engagement point so that you stay on VTEC in every gear, for a higher percentage of your acceleration time.

thanks for the info, just wondering, but what kinda stress would those bolt ons put on my new engine? i know turbos, and NOS systems, beat the sh*t out of engines. Also, would i need to upgrade the kind of fuel i use?

thanks:flash:

I don't think I'm the best person to answer that... The bolt ons that I mentioned aren't going to put a lot of stress on your engine. I've heard of the Unorthodox pulleys destroying engines, but those were isolated cases. You won't have to change your fuel octane level unless you advance your timing.

just my two bits
power is all perspective...
if ya just wanna go fast in a straight line then i/h/e/cam gears timer, power pulleys
but real power is to be harnessed
mix in some power parts with some suspension or you will lose control and thats a bad thing!!!
get sway bars and a header or springs and cam gears keep it mixed up and it will be well worth it in the long run
