S15 Rear end conversion

No not cosmetics foo!

I was thinking. People swap the S14 5 speed and S14 driveshaft into the S15, cuz supposedly the 6-speed is weak.

Could you do the reverse(swap the 6 speed and use S15 driveshaft) Into an S13 or S14

Wow, good question. I mean, it can't be all THAT god damn weak.. I don't see why it wouldn't go in... since when can swaps only be done one way.

the transmission would definitley go in, as it's been done before, but i'm not sure whether the drive-shaft would fit without modification.

Turbo - from what i've heard, the 6-speed is weaker because it's 6 gears crammed into the same bell-housing as the 5-speed, so they're thinner.

yes, but how much power are we talkin about before this inherit weakness of the 6 speed starts to show? this doesn't sound like a bad mod for auto-x.

The "Weakness" shows up at about 400HP (pfft what a peice of crap )

doesnt sound like a bad idea i dont know if it would be worth it to find/convert the tranny. I dont think the drive shaft fits, i rembered seeing something about getting a custom driveshaft when swapping in an s-15 engine into a S13-14

i'm only lookin for about 250 to 280 hp with my car. Does this tranny only work with an s15 engine? if its in the same housing as the 5spd why wouldn't it mate up to an s13 or s14 engine. (there all sr's right, i may be wrong, i'm comin from a honda stand point, b-series, h series and such) what kind of acceleration gains can you get, i imagin that is shorter gears right?

Were trying to figure out if you can mate the 6speed up to an S13 or S14 engine.

sounds like it would work, BUt you should see about getting a bigger bell housing so you can get stronger gears. Would be very cost ineffective if you had to replace them often.

i don't think it looks anything like a Pontiac. i think it's a beautiful design from front to back and anyone who thinks it looks bad is TRYING to find something wrong with it. don't tell me you wouldn't take one in a heartbeat.

besides, we're talking about the drivetrain here.

derek - as for mating the 6-speed to a 13 or 14 engine...i highly doubt it...but of course, i'm not 100% positive...

so why don't you drop an rb25det in it, i think you can drop a sixer with that engine, plus it's got all the balls you need. oh, and those tail lights, kick ass.

RBs are for show or drag racing. Plus its a 5 speed tranny anyways.

BTW Brian..I do kinda see what he means about the grand am-ness of the S15...sure it looks nice, but it is there, I never noticed this.

Maybe someone can do a side-by-side comparison? My PS skills are crap.
