When I take the positive cable off my battery there are sparks. I don't recall ever seeing that. Does it indicate a problem?

Re: Sparks from battery post
No thats a normal occurence when something is trying to get power to run like your interior lights. The power will jump a small gap and you see the spark from it jumping. If you want turn everything on in your car the spark should be much bigger. But don't do this cuz you may spike a module. Always disconnect the battery with everything off.
