I need to know...
Ok I own a 91 civic Si and the other day this guy in a mustang tried to get me to race him, so I did. When we shut it down I had him by about 1/2 a car length. It was the new body style mustang. It had GT badging and all. It was an automatic, but still. My car is totally stock, except exhaust. Do you think that this guy was just sporting the badges or what. What do the new GT's run in the quarter mile?

i have a 89 auto GT and have never lost a civic, ever! maybe he saw something that spooked him, cop, traffic, person, animal. if you have a stick then you would have an advantage off the line cause autos suck from a start. did you only race a short distance cause my bet is that with time it would have pulled pretty good on a civic. i know stock auto GT of my year runs somewhere around a 15 sec 1/4 mile.

I have a 5 spd. There were no cops or anything, but I don't think it was really a GT. Cause my car stock runs a 15.9, and If the GT runs a 15 flat then I really don't think it was a GT. I know he was trying to, cause he chirped a bit off the start and he looked pretty serious the whole race. I guess he was a V6 or a 4cly. There are some people around here that like to pose as cars they're not, so he probably just had some GT badges or something.

i wouldn't say 15 flat, theres all kinds of factors, driver skill, road conditions and such. i've seen auto run 15.5, and a full weight GT running close to 16's. on the other hand a lightened car could run maybe a 14.9. how did this"GT" sound? loud, could you hear a rumble or could you not tell? if its an auto i bet it would be higher 15's, cause them new GT's are heavier them my style.

It had chrome pipes, and I could hear it when he took off. It wasn't annoyingly loud, but yeah I could hear it. It was kinda deep, but not like most mustangs. That is why I didn't think it was a V-8.
