NEED Advice on engine choice

OK heres the scoop .. had a nasty waterpump failurein my 2000 LS and an overheat problem ,that warped the head on my b18b1 so i got that fixed well it seems the warped head caused the barings to go bad in the bottom end and im just tired of this motor i havent fixed it ... so my question is where is the best place to get a B18c5 (as i am done with LS motors had two ls integra's dont care for them) i want to put the b18c5 in there with tranny how hard is this to do as in when i do the ECU swap and the motor and tranny swap what would i be getting myself into
would i have to run wires through a firewall or would most of the engine clips from the LS wiring that runs through the firewall be suffiecient i have no clue on what would be done so if you guys could point me to a website that shows me this or if someone has actually done this swap and could tell me what i need to do would be REALLY REALLY appreciated

Thanks in Advance for any help you guys can give

Re: NEED Advice on engine choice

Personally I don't care too much for the b18c5 motor. It's good but not all that good. I believe you'll need a vtec wiring harness too for that swap. But I don't think you just want to spend that much money for an engine such as the b18c5. But other than that the swap is quite easily done. Have fun with motor.

i also dont plan on doing mods to it besides maybe an intake
so therefor the more hp i can get out of a stock motor the better i think i know you can do a lot with the b18b1 or the b18c1 and they are cheaper but as i dont plan on doing anything the c5 is prolly where i want to be

Re: NEED Advice on engine choice

If you're not planning on doing a build up, and want a fast good motor to drop into a teg, the ITR is the best choice. Aside from running vtec and maybe a knock sensor it will bolt right in.

as you say Running Vtec what would i need to do to do that?
thats about the only thing im worried about i mean im decent with dropping in motors and all but i know nothing about the vtec wiring and stuff so could ya tell me if that means running a harness through the firewall or would i be looking at just clipping the motor into engine harness thats already present ?

Re: NEED Advice on engine choice

You'll need to run hardwires straight from the vtec solenoid to the ECU, not hard. Goto a junkyard and grab a ECU plug with the wires and pins remove the pins, measure how much wire you'll need, solder together the wires, pins and to the vtec plug, and the ECU, then run it through your firewall once you have pinned them to the correct locations in the ECU. Once it is in place, tape it into the loom for a clean factory look.

The wires don't nescessarily have to be from a vtec, they just have to have pins on them
