I love SLK right now.
before I was never a big fan of this car, until I bought a used 230k last week. I use this car as daily driver, and my S2000 as weekend car. love that MB quality and the rectractable is great. the rear vison is much better than my S2000. I never like the style before, until right now there is one in my garage that I can look at everyday. the style really grow on me. I think I will keep this car for 3 years, then trade in for a new SLK or SL500. |

SC430 is SL territory, not SLK. completely different type of car.

They all look the same to me. It's very odd that so many people like these cars, as there is actually no comparison in price to a sports car and one of these saloons, which are invariiably very slow and rather dull.

The SLK AMG's are actually rather quick, a 0-60 time of 4.6sec isn't bad my friend, not bad at all. |

Re: dont u just love this car.
Actually, Car & Driver tested an SLK32 AMG in the August 2001 issue, and it did 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.0 at 110mph. And at 140mph, the SLK was 1.6 seconds ahead of the Corvette, 2.9 seconds ahead of the BMW M Roadster (the 315 hp version), and 11.6 seconds ahead of the Porsche Boxter S.

Re: dont u just love this car.
And this year, the new SLK will have an AMG option with a 5.5L V8 engine. Sounds pretty fascinating, ha?

I've driven the new shape SLK, and it is such a breath of fresh air compared to the stodgy old one. The new car has totaly new underpinnings, so the old shape C-class platform will be totaly redundand thank god! The car is much easier on the eyes too, with sort of a blend bettween SL and SLR, that has been shrunk. It features the same vario-roof system that the SL has, where the rear screen is rotated 180 degrees when folded to add to the boot space, and the superb new 6 speed manual gearbox means that this little number will at last be the sports car that its always being trying to be.
I tested the 230K, but a friend of mine had the 200K, and he said that even that one was a sharp responsive little car. the 450bhp 55 AMG will be a real sports car though. Especially if AMG decide to use the 6 speed manual... |

Re: dont u just love this car.
450bhp? Try 360. The current SLK32 is still quicker. You can even get a chip/pulley kit to get 400hp out of the supercharged 3.2 liter engine -- hard to do with a normally aspirated V8.
