My Enzo Ferrari progress

Started to build my Enzo a week and a half ago. I'll detail this one with the St27 etch set, do the wiring and use Museum Collection and SMS CF decals. Right now I can't decide between painting this one yellow or black, suggestions are welcome.

I already uploaded pics of the progress up to now in the gallery of the forum, but I'll post some of pics with comments today.

Let's start with the wheels.
I stripped the chrome, primed & repainted them with Alclad White Aluminium. Applied the decals and finally clear coated them. Since the rubber tires are so beatifully molded and the mold line is almost invisible, I didn't scuff and left them as new.

For the engine I puttied and sanded the joints where visible and primer from a distance trying to leave a rough surfece, later airbrushed it with Alclad Aluminium and a wash with black oil paint. The cam covers were primed white and sprayed with Tamiya TS-8 red, and later flat coated. I used Museum Collection's CF decals for the cam covers center section and St27 photo-etch logos.
The heat shielding over the transmission was done with cigarette packaging's aluminium foil (I think Marlboro ones are too shiny, I'll use Camel ones on my next Enzo and BTW I don't smoke since High school but luckily my brother does ), I used the Sakatsu etch set as template (I'll use the whole Sakatsu set for the next Enzo I'll build super detailed)

I'll continue the thread later, your comments are welcome.

Nice progress! I think yellow will look very sharp! Just one question for you: does the oil paint stays on Alclad Aluminum well? I use oil paints on Tamiya paints, and never use them on Alclad's. P.S. The oil paint really makes the engine details stand out! Keep us updated!

Looking good so far. Try a black Enzo. I think that would be awesome, but of course, lt is your car, so you can paint it any way you want.

Yea, I meant it's too bad that for the price of 3 revell enzo's, you get one tamiya but still no cf

That's a fact, it' pretty much close to each other quality-wise.

Only thing that 's in my opinion better on the revell, If i m not mistaken, is the fact that the incision on the front wing (don't know how to explain it), the panel line connecting the nose to the body seems to be captured better on the revell kit then the tamiya kit (see thesaint's awesoe build-up)

Re: My Enzo Ferrari progress

yea I noticed that also, but I like the fact that tamiya has opening doors.
