Broke A$$ Tranny....

Last weekend my tranny started slipping, jumping 2-3k on shifts, and it wouldn't stay in 3rd gear if I let off the gas. My car has 61,800 on it, with a tranny cooler and vb mod since 40k, and no trouble before. So I take it into my local Nissan, since I purchased an extended warranty when I bought it, and they set about looking into it. Friday morning they call me and say that the tranny needs to be replaced due to an internal failure, and that there was brass shavings in the fluid. So they call my warranty company who sends an independant inspector to look at my car. A little while later the Nissan Tech calls me and says the warranty company wants a record of my tranny being serviced or they won't replace the tranny. Now, I'm a pretty good mechanic, I do all my own work, I don't take my car to the shop for oil changes or minor cost crap. So I tell them I don't have a record, and they say they will get back to me. A little while later the Nissan tech calls and says they were not going to replace it, but that he vouched that I had recently changed the fluid, so they changed there minds. They were just pi$$ed that I had paid $1400 for the warranty, but they had to pay close to $3000 for a new tranny. The moral of this story? Make sure you get good documentation of your mechanical work, or your warranty may be worthless. I get my car back next friday with a new tranny for $50, the cost of my deductible...

You guys suck... J/K... new tranny is in and it only cost me $50. How much have you spent on tranny's Wayne? Now I have another 12k mile warranty on this one, though hopefully the 5spd will be in by summer.
