Re: Compass Thingy
There is a procedure to recalibrate the compass I believe, it's a little involved & you need to indenify what zone your in. There is also a procedure to degauss the vehicle. Lastly replacement of the module if available seperatly{some are, some not} I dont remember on this year. You'd start with the recalibrate & go from there. Call your local dealer, but my guess would be $75.00-$90.00 to do the recalibrate, up from there if parts are required or additional problems found. Thats my 2 cents.

Re: Compass Thingy
I have a '98 Blazer manual. It has the procedure for recalibrating your compass and identifying your zone.
I can send you a copy if you like. While we're on the "Compass Thingy", I can't get my "thermometer thingy" to work. The display is "0 C". I don't think that stands for Oh Crud! Any ideas? Thanks m37 |

Re: Compass Thingy
Unfortunately, I can't send it to you as an attachment. It's fairly short. I'll try to type it up for you. You need to tell me what state you're in because you have to be assigned a "zone" for the calibration.
I'll do this later today. Mike |

Re: Compass Thingy
Try the instructions in the next paragraph. If that doesn't work, then send your address and I will snail mail you copies from the manual. There's more info than I thought.
Calibration instructions: Drive your Blazer in a 360 degree circle 3 times. Stay under 5 mph. That's supposed to calibrate it, but of course, if you're like me nothing is ever as easy as it seems. Hope this helps, Mike |

Overhead Council
I don't know if this will, but, I have a 97 blazer & there was a short in the overhead council & it was giving false readings to the temp. gauge & direction. When I took it in at a dealer they told me they were aware of this & fixed it, also, the wiper delay module went bad later & it did the same thing.

Re: Compass Thingy
do you have an owners manual sounds like the zone may be programed wrong, makes the compass all weird due to magnetic feilds. If you have no owners manual send me a PM and I can probably help you out!
