how do you know when you re gonna need a new clutch soon?

how do you know if you re gonna need a new clutch soon? anyone with any experience with it? does it get hard to shift? does your clutch burn a lot instead of clamping when its suppose to?

Could be both problems you described. If its hard 2 shift you might have a pressure plate not releasing the clutch disc. About the slipping part, say if your in 2nd and you punch it does it slip ? if it does you need it.
