'94 Tahoe 4WD problem !

I have a 1994 K-1500 Tahoe with Floor shifting 4WD. For some reason or another, I cannot engage the 4WD. I can pull the handle into 4WD, but it does not feel like I am getting the power up into the front Diff. Also, the indicator light that shows me that I am in 4WD is not coming on and I have already checked the bulb. Any Ideas, it is really plaguing me.
The engine is 6,5TD V8 if it helps.

Thanks in advance !

Sounds like your front wheel drive actuator is not working anymore.

You need to buy it from GM give them part number 26013495

Re: '94 Tahoe 4WD problem !

You have two options for this.
#1 is to replace the actuator listed above, it's a heated gas design & engages slowly. The easist.

#2 is to replace it with the updated mechanicle actuator & required wiring harness. Not as easy &
costs about the same.

Re: '94 Tahoe 4WD problem !

I have the same truck and the same problem. But I keep burning the 4wd fuse and smells when I try to engage. I assume the smell is the burning fuse. Once, it sounded like the auto hub was hanging up I con't to drive a few feet and it made a banging sound and then never again. Do these hubs get hung up or need cleaning? Would that cause a fuse to blow?

Thank you in advance.

Nick

I couldn't get my new actuator to engage my 4wd so I did stick a dowel in the actuator hole and when I did the light for the 4wd came on (with they key turned in the on position) So the actuator wasn't pushing far enough to lock the hub.
