Drag turbo

Does any body have any experience with the drag turbos? I am getting ready to order one for my b16 and am curious if there are any problems I should know about. I live in Germany so I drive 100+mph constantly.

Sucks, still no help huh? Well, I can only say that Ive heard it suggested repeatedly on message boards, and also a friend of mine who has been on the scene for years. (the guy knows his shit) It is a very complete kit, and the price is a bit high because of it. (intercooler, fuel management, etc. all included) I have heard a few complaints here and there about exhaust manifolds cracking, but its hard to say if it is a quality issue with the kit, or just abuse/defects. Sorry, thats about all I can offer you man, hopefully someone else can give you some real info from experience.

definately get it.. i have it on my prelude.. it serves me fine as my daily driver.. even tho i dont go over 100 mph constantly. just make sure you treat it right.. oil changes religiously at 2000 mi. got it at www.importparts.com

As far as reliability, even at the basic 7lbs of boost on a DRAG kit, I think it still a risk when driving for long periods at that speed. With any turbo street setup, you are at a risk of messing up the engine with stock internals on daily driving. Even more when you are constantly driving at that speed, at that high of an RPMs on boost. Yeah it feels good to feel the boost at high speeds, but longevity is for sure compromised.

maintenance on the DRAG kits, is pretty much a strict schedule of oil changes. Maintaining the oil level and quailty helps prolong the life of the turbo. Watching your water temp is also important, since the engine tends to get hotter with the turbo, i suggest the Redline Water Wetter to help cool things down a little better.

Prices on the DRAG kit for the B16 motor is around $2900 for the DRAG kit. Expect to pay additional on welding the oil pan for the oil return line. Oil and oil filter while your at it.
So there shouldnt be any problems as long as you take care of the motor and not overabuse it.

Thanks for the info, I'm getting my Drag 3 for $2700, I am also debating putting a B18b tranny on it to help keep the rpm down. Next winter I'm going to rebuild the b16 for turbo. Right now I just want to try to avoid blowing it up (my wife would kill me). It also looks like I'll be moving back to the states around Sept-Dec so I won't be beating it so hard.

I would definetly upgrade the wastegate if you plan on the drag kit. You should be fairly safe at low boost, but the problem is that the tial wastegate suffers from boost creep which will destroy your engine real quick.
