factory gauge problem HELP!

My factory gauges all peg out when I turn on the ignition key. What is the problem? I've checked all the grounds and that does not seem to be the problem. The truck is an 88 S10 tahoe with the 2.8 engine and auto trans. Thanks, Roger

Are the gauges staying pegged after the truck is running (during)? Any other electrical problems?

electrical

Yes, the gauges don't move once the motor is running. No other problems so far. The truck is a rebuilt wreak. The frame was twisted but no damage to the body. It was hit drivers side front. The motor was missing and the interior when I bought it. I got an 87 s10 blazer for the motor and interior. I've changed the steering column and all the relays and checked everthing possible. I must be missing something. Thanks, Roger
