spool up too quik... is that possible?
I have an H23... slightly larger motor but not huge... if i ran .48 exhaust housing on a 57trim .60 compressor housing T3/To4e turbo... i think it would spool faster do to smaller exhaust ar (but correct me if im wrong) but would it spool too fast... ??? i meen... the problem is a H23 will only safely rev to around 6300-6500rpm... which meens i dont want boost to start at 4300-4500rpm and reach full boost at 5000 and then shift half a second later... i want full boost (only runnin 6psi keep in mind) around 3500-4000rpm(no higher please)... is .48 #1 too resricting and #2 spool tooo fast... or would .63 be sufficient although i dont want boost so damn late in the range its owrthless to me .. thanx

You shouldn't have a problem. My friend has a Garrett T3/T04 on a B18C with lowered compression and it spools NICELY. http://civic.ibadesigns.com

Re: spool up too quik... is that possible?
Also, it doesn't matter if you spool too quickly but if you can hold boost througout the rpm range. Fast spool = fast times.

well
well would a .48 hold boost through 6500rpm on an H23?

And yes a .48 A/R housing will hold boost to 6500 on an H22. |

[quote=boosted331]Yes you can have too quick spool, a turbo that spools to quick will just blow the tires away in first and second on the street or the track.QUOTE]
Yeah, if he's running a lot of boost but he's only running 6psi. He's not going to make that much power.

hmm
well since it will hold boost through 6500rpm on an H23 (h22 same dif except vtech compression pistons and stroke) and im runnin low boost (so too fast spool isnt a big problem) will the .48 restrict horsepower? if i ran the same turbo with a .63 ar when would i see full boost... and if ran both turbos at same psi same rpms... would the .63 make more power... alot more power? another thing... if it spools so damn quik... and i end up in boost while doing like highway driving... is that a really bad thing?

Re: hmm
A lot depends on the compressor side of the turbo and the piping. The larger the piping going from the turbo to the FMIC to the throttle body, the larger the HP gains. Air flow is the key to gaining power. You might have a T3, but if you have 2" piping, it's going to drop off on the HP and TQ curve really quick.

example
T3/To4e... specs are stage 3 wheel .48 ar(exhaust) ... and To4e housing compressor specs .60ar 57trim well assume 2.5inch piping(thats about average right?) from turbo to intercooler and intercooler to tb... now would i make enough power (230whp 6-7psi) with the .48 exhaust housing and would it spool fairely quikly?
