I am interested in dropping a RB26dett engine in my nissan 240sx (s14). I want to keep the TT setup and I was wondering if there were any conversion kits online for a LHD to a RHD 240. Plus will a Nissan Skyline steering rack fit a 240 without major modifications. Please hit me back on this one.

ok why would u even want to convert it??? It would be a waste of time IMO, and if there was a kit out there it youwould have to have deep pockets in order to buy one. If you do want to get heres a suggestion try and find a japanese auto wrecker and see if they have ne 240's wrecked and if he would sell you the interior and then you could go from there. But i think you should just stick with the LHD, The RB26dett is a good idea and i dont no nething aout the steering rack sorry man . Goof luck in trying to find one for your car.

Will an s14 dash and steering rack fit in a 95 240? That should be all I need shouldn't it? That or will an r32 or r33 dash and steering rack fit a 240? does anyone have any info. I wonder if it would be possible to get a silvia front clip that someone has already stripped except for the steering rack, dash, and steering column. Can anyone help me?

although the 95 240 is an s14 model by definition, i dont think the jdm s14 dash or steering rack will go straight in because the dash would be reversed due to the right hand drive issue. maybe i'm wrong, but i don't think so. a skyline dash definitley would not fit, neither would the steering rack. why would you wanna do the conversion and swap anyways? for the money it would cost, you could just but an r32 gt-r...

skyline vs skyline powered 240
I dont understand why everyone thinks you have to have deep pockets to do things on a car. I dont need to find a kit for a RHD conversion I going to fabricate one myself. I just wanted to know if the s14 dash would fit to save me some trouble. Yea your right I could get a skyline in the country there are ways to do it if you do your homework. Just today I saw a 98 Nissan skyline with RB26 pushin 420Hp for $11200. Yea that is pretty feasible even if I were to go through Motorex. So for roughly 30000 I could turn the key on that. The only problem with that is the HP would be toned down and the car wouldn't be nearly as fast once it was modified to the U.S. spec. Finally, your car is checked monthly to make sure you have not changed it back to its original glory.
So $3500 for a RB26dett, $1000 for miscellaneous engine parts for conversion, $2000 for s15 front end conversion, $2000 for rims, $1500 for a body kit and paint, $1000 for exhaust, and $500 for stripped out s14 front clip for rack and dash, that roughly comes to $11500 for a tricked out bad ass RHD ride thats pushin a little over 300 hp. Thats doable. |

Re: RHD conversion for a 240sx
preach it tehcno240, that is the same thing I want to do, except i would drop an SR20DET DOHC 16-Valve Turbo 2.0-Litre for the engine, also i would go for the late s14 front end conversion like the boxier look makes it look like a transformer. I just need more info on it basically. give me an email if you have any good websites on it. [email protected]

Re: RHD conversion for a 240sx
i dont know if it helps you out any but one of my buddies imported a s13 silvia front half cut for his us spec 240sx. his operation on the entire car involved alot of welding and alot of time. but his turn out and now he has a rhd sil80.

Some of my views have changed since the last time I posted. Fortunately I decided to stay with the RB26. My plan is to get a s15 front clip and use the s15 lights for a headlight conversion. I do like the boxier s14a headlights but the s15's are just sick. Next on the agenda is to use the steering rack and suspension to get the RHD. I understand that it will take alot of cutting welding and drilling but once its done it will be a show winner. S15 shogun kit, carbon fiber wing, bayside blue with lime green fading racing stripes and side tribals. 450HP RB TT pushing me in a good direction......sideways! 18 inch chrome Volk GT-C's
Still working on the concept for the interior but its coming. The car goes off the road and into the garage the first of june. It will be awhile after that before it comes out. Just wait, it will be worth it. |

Re: RHD conversion for a 240sx
Well, if ur gonna drift, you better be good if ur gonna use a 450hp car! My car over here only has 300hp or so, and I drift it, but it took some practice. Oh, and if you want to know, my car is nothing where I live in terms of race

dont put in the RB!!
the rb26dett is too heavy for the 240sx chassis it will give you about i 65/35 front rear weight distribution. this will make your poor 240sx spin happy through the corners.you can use this engine for a drag car with huge slicks in the rear but for a daily driver or a track car this is the wrong engine.a better engine is the sr20det this is what i have a it runs 480whp at 25psi of boost with 50/50 weight distribution and pulls a solid 1.0 G of grip. the reason this engine works well in the skyline is four wheel drive.
pleeez dont put in the time and effort just to get a spin happy 240sx |

dont dooo itttttt!
the spin happy rb26dett powered car will take a professional drifter to controll it for any kind of a drift run. a sr20det powered car will be semi-easy to learn to drift for a good auto crosser or other racer with lots of race line knowledge and skill implying it

Re: RHD conversion for a 240sx
Hi buddy.
Buy a japanese-spec 240SX front clip and swap all parts to make it RHD. They are quite cheap. |

Re: RHD conversion for a 240sx
We have some S13 front clips in stock with good unibody for the RHD conversion for $2800. Freight is not included, and is ussually 3-500. This will include everything needed to do the SR engine swap, and the RHD swap. Please email us at [email protected] if you are intersted.

Re: RHD conversion for a 240sx
aight i just read the first three post, so if this has been said, then oh well. i know someone who knows of rhd conversion, he has successfully done it(pm me if you are serious bout it). now, as far as swapping in a rb26dett, why??? you'll need the rb25 tranny. both turbos wont fit unless you do cutting.
now, let's talk RB25DET. it's .1 liter less(big deal) it uses the rb25 tranny and it's single turbo. yall know that fits in better than that rb26. the rb26 that gets installed in a 240 are usually converted into single turbo, only a few has been done. dont be discouraged, both turbos have made it in a 240 engine bay. i'd say go rb25 and save yourself alot of money. like j spec nightmare said, you could just buy an r32 gtr instead. |

Well I don’t know if this has been said already but here I go any way. If you want a drop a JDM engine and you want RHD, buy an S14 Front clip, you'll get the SR20DET which will be able to give you plenty of power, and the Silvia S14 dash and steering column will fit. I don’t however know if it will require modification or not, the S13's requires very little modification because they are already setup to accept RHD, I know because I have it done in mine. Also I kind of have to agree with khfromhb, the RB series engines are quite a bit heavier, so unless you want to invest in Skyline VLSD rear sub frame, or just a good LSD that will keep your tires from spinning, and high quality suspension that’s exactly what’s going to happen. Also I think your estimates are a little off, ya you can get the engine for $3,500 but you’re not including the cost to install it, the LSD and suspension work which will be more than the engine itself, so you can at least double that number. Not to mention you will still need the Rb25 tranny, as well as the mounting kit, which combined with shipping will be more that $1,000. If you can find a good quality S15 conversion kit for $2,000 than good, don’t pass it up because it will be bought fast at that price. But again, unless you can do the conversion yourself than you also have to figure in the price to have it done. Installation of a body kit and getting a good paint job on it will run you more $1,500, depending on the cost of the kit. When I hade my 02 Lancer (not the Evo) I got a body kit installed and painted for $2,300, now that’s only what I paid, you might be able to get a good price, but I’m just letting you know it could be more. Now don't get me wrong, I’m not trying to dismiss your ideas, hell I think that would be a fuckin nice car. I'm just letting you know what you are getting into. I think it would be easier, hell of a lot cheaper, and less stressful to just get an S14 front clip and swap everything out, and then get the S15 front end conversion. Check out www.JDMparts.com, they tell you exactly what you need and have a pretty nice S15 DRFT front bumper, I’m thinking of getting it sometime this summer, either that or I’ll spend the 4 grand or so it will cost to convert my front and rear end to an R34. I got the head lights, GTR bumper, and the tail lights with covers, but still need the fenders and the hood, than save up for 6 to 8 months and get it done.
