Red face Legacy GT A/T bad fuel economy

Hi , I'm new to this forum and new to owning a Legacy. I bought a 1997 Legacy GT BG5 and would like a few hints on improving the fuel economy. Right now i'm getting roughly 7km/L which is awful compaired to my last car which was around 13km/l. I have not moddified anything yet. The car is a Automatic transmission and has a button on the side of the shift which says "power". The manual for the car explaind that it gave the car a little more power for acceleration but I really don't see any difference. Would this be affecting fuel economy?. How much of a difference would I expect to see by installing a 3rd party filter / intake kit? argg

what can I do?!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

on another note :
I was thinking of getting a blitz blow off valve ( for the sake of turbo life ) ... Is the installation easy / worth it?

Fuel economy

Hey bro. What country are you in?
Automatic Legacy's fuel consumption is quite bad compared to manual anyways but yours sounds real bad. You should be up around 10.5 ltr per 100km's. Its hard to give advice as I dont know if you are in New Zealand or not (different fuels and setups etc) and is this city driving or open road. Also do you thrash it?

The blow off valve...........well unless you thrash the hell outa your car evryday I wouldnt worry about it as they have a standard factory one anyway (they just dont make much noise) so that is personal choice I
think. Probably better to spend that on finding what the other problem is?

Good luck dude............D.
