GOLF III - electrical problems

Ive got a GOLF III from 1997 and have some problems with a relay.

Sometimes, during driving, all electrical equipment goes out - my external light, my heater, aso, but the engine continues to run - but its no nice to be driving along with no headlights on at night.

I can hear a relay saying click-click somewhere, I have checked all the relays near the fusebox, but they seems ok.

Does anybody know where I can find this relay ?? - I´ve looked in my haynes book, but I am not an expert to read those diagrams.

And yes I could drive my car to an authorized garage, but I would like to give it shot first....

When was the lsat time you put in a new battery, mine was doing strange stuff until I replced the old batt.
