Need some info/advise plz

Hello
Nice forum here, thought i'd see if i can get some feedback on here with the problem iam having.
I have a 89 TC 2.2 SOHC turbo 70k original miles
I have had a problem smoking at intermintent times and has become bad as of late. Its predominatly white smoke, but has some blue color also.
At an idle w/o a load is the worse, and goes away past 1500 rpm under a load. It started a few months ago and smoked horribly for 5 mins then stopped for weeks. It is so bad now after i changed the oil recently, i can't drive the car till i repair. After reading some posts here and many web pages i figured it was the head gasket and removed the head today ( fun job btw if you have never done this )
To my amazement the head gasket looks perfect. More amazing is the black water i drained from the coolant system ): yet there is no water in my oil system. If the head gasket was blown out across to a water jacket i would expect water in my oil not vise-versa. A slipped valve guide or bad valve seals would result in oil loss/burning. Iam guessing a hairline crack in the head could possible develop this condition.
I will take the head to a reputable local machine shop and have the head pressure tested and if good the have it rebuilt.
Any suggestions where to order the head gasket/intake/exhaust/head bolts from?
Should i replace the thermostat, injectors, and rebuilt the turbo unit while they are out?
Has any one had this same problem?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice/suggestions.

Re: Need some info/advise plz

when you said that the coolant was black, you didn't mention how long it had been since your last coolant flush. a little automotive 101 here. white smoke usually means (if it's not water condensation on a cold day) that coolant is entering the combustion chamber. and the blue smoke would indicate oil entering the combustion chamber. if it is only smoking when you start the car, it is most likely worn valve seals. if it is continual while you are driving, it is most likely worn piston rings, or worn cylinders. For your sake, i'm hoping it's the valve seals.

u said the water was black....That usually happens with a blown head gasket or a cracked or warped head. Take a look at your head for cracks, but remember, just 'cause you can't see them doesn't mean they're not there. If you're headgasket is fine, and there's no visible cracks or chunks missing from you're head, send it to a machine shop to get die tested, this will show any cracks with a red die!! ALWAYS use factory headgaskets!!! Don't bother wasting time with those fram pieces of crap, 'cause you'll have to change it again in a year.
