Exclamation my broken tacoma thread

alright I have a 1996 tacoma that has passed the 100k mile mark. nad the engine and/or transmission has given out on me The engine refuses to turn over and the trans is stuck in park, (it was a bleach and a half to tow that way.) I have to admit this was probably bad truck to begain with since I suspect it was totaled in another state and then some one fixed it and had the title redone in my state for sale, but I stuck with it for now. Does anyone here know what good option for a engine and transmission swap? Right now it has a 4cylinder, with a automatic transmission. I can't remember the engine sixe exactly but I know it is the larger of the two 4 bangers avaliable in 96.

100k is hardly alot of miles, even in a hard driven truck. The engine can be rebuilt rather cheaply and the trans swapped for a rebuild but I suspect your problems are more minor. Have a good (Toyota) tech take a look at it. It is probably an electrical problem. that would be my guess.
