While it's true that The Simpsons started the insanely funny cartoons with adult humor, I think Family Guy really perfected it. It's pretty much the only show on earth that I laugh throughout the entire episode. Too bad the bastards at Fox cancelled it before it really blew up.

Re: Favorite primetime cartoon

I love Family Guy. Stewie is the best. I would have voted for South Park, but I've seen every episode too many times. I've only recently begun to watch Family Guy, and it's a shame Fox didn't have the balls to keep it going. At least its out on DVD now.

Re: Favorite primetime cartoon

I chose Simpsons, with Futurama coming in a close second.

As far as the #1 cartoon, it's no contest. This is the epitome of a good cartoon. Yeah, it's gone through it's bad times, but it's really coming back now.

If it was shit, it wouldn't have lasted this long.

I voted for Family Guy, which (IMHO) is the best cartoon to ever be run. Good news for those dissapointed with its cancelation. First there are the DVDs but better yet, after about a year or two of hassling, Seth McFarlane is COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure when the first new one comes out, but it'll be worth the wait.

Re: Favorite primetime cartoon

Simpson's is good, in fact, all things considered (by this I mean longevity) it is the best. It's just that if Family Guy and Simpsons were on at the same time, I would choose Family Guy

I grew up watching the Simpsons but I fell in love with Family Guy.

BTW, Family Guy is coming back December 2004/January 2005 to FOX due to a huge success in DVD sales and ratings on Adult Swim. It's not official yet, but It's going to happen for sure. You can read the latest interview here:

Re: Favorite primetime cartoon

Although Family Guy is just flat out hilarious, Futurama has way better animation and story lines. So, Futurama gets best primetime cartoon, but Family Guy gets funniest primetime cartoon.
