3.8 taurus.

im a 17 year old automotive high school student. through the last year. ive been planning on compleatly rebuilding the 3.8 liter in my 95 taurus and droping a 5 speed in it. been wanting to do this so i could shut a friend up about his stupid yahama engine in his SHO. does anyone know any exact specs, such as bore and what not on the SHO, i know, or believe its a 3 liter, but could i know a little more.

Wrong. In fact, they only put a manual transmission in the SHOs from inception until about '93 (they had a 3.0L Yamaha), but it continued to be available until '99 when Ford stopped producing them. They began by putting a 3.2L in the automatics. From '96 to '99 Ford used a 3.4L Yamaha V8.

No, no it is not supercharged.

Feel free to go and troll elsewhere.

Anyway... It's not an easy job. If you really know cars, it *can* be done, but it's going to take quite a lot of time for a first-timer and is probably going to cost you some money. You will need a custom PCM for your configuration, which could easily cost $1k or more. Unless you're really attached to your car, it might be worthwhile to just sell your 3.8 and go out and buy an actual SHO. Not only will the engine be more powerful, but you won't have to spend the extra money on parts for your conversion, and you'll also get a few nice upgrades like better suspension and the like. Good luck!
