Changing front turn signal light bulbs

Can anyone provide guidance on how to access the front turn signal bulbs for replacement? I have xenon headlamps if that matters. The manual implies it needs to be done by BMW - I am not paying $100 an hour for bulbs to be replaced! Help!

Re: Changing front turn signal light bulbs

I went to the dealership and asked them to show me (essentially) the bolts that needed to be removed...it's not difficult, though you do remove the entire headlite assembly but it comes out fairly easily. Arm yourself with a good selection of different length screwdrivers, some of the fastners require "shorty's" and some need long scredrivers. Get to the dealership and beg...they understood my reluctence to have them do what amounts to such a simple job. Oh, and the prolem isn't the bulbs, the socket needs to be replaced with the up-dated version...the old ones arc over..the first time I did this repair, I found the bulbs OK, the socket had self-shorted...by scrapping the arc material away I fixed it but only for a short time...new improved sockets are the way to go.

Wink

Well I am a newbie here but had the same problem on my X5.
I was very happy to find that the problem was covered under the new car warranty. I guess BMW had a few problems with the sockets.

Man! I just ended up paying $166.67 for parts and labor to replace my front turn signals on my X5. It only took the BMW dealer 30mn to fix it. What an expensive light bulb! Every time I signal, I think about the $166 lightbulbs.
