Worn Out Suspension Air Bags and Battery goes dead after sitting for three days
These could be two seperate issues or one in the same.
I have a 1992 Park Avenue Ultra with Dynaride. Well, my DynaRide is not so dynamic right now. I took a look at the rubber air bladders under the car (the last time the mechanic looked at it) and they were indeed dry rotted. This probably explains why the air compressor keeps running. What is my best option for either replacing or repairing these "air shocks"? The car has 150,000 miles. I have disconnected the power cable from the compressor , which at this point is useless anyway, and still hear the relay clicking under the dash on the passengers side to turn it on. I've seen these air-lift kits that you fit inside your coil springs is that a viable option? On another note... The car, if left sitting for a while - three days or so - will completely drain it's battery. I have tried a new battery. The alternator is only 2 years old and I belive it is working because the car charges and cranks right back up after you jump it and drive it a while. Also the voltage meter goes to 13.5 or so after the car starts. Thanks for your help. Any suggestions are welcome. |

You need new shocks in the rear, thats about 900 parts and labor.
Your battery is old, and can no longer hold a charge, needs to be replaced. Count on $100 for a Delco battery(The very best IMO)

Re: Worn Out Suspension Air Bags and Battery goes dead after sitting for three days
If you are talking about the rubber boot around the air shock then that would not be your problem. Your compressor keeps running because you have a leak somewhere in your air shocks. Take some soapy water and wash the lines and shocks down look for the bubbles that will tell you where it is leaking from.
On your dead battery issue you have a bettery drain causing your problem, something is staying on that shouldn't be staying on. Your air compressor for the shocks is on a timer but that doesn't mean its not the problem. Your best bet is to take it to a shop and have them do a parasitic draw test to determine the problem.

Re: Worn Out Suspension Air Bags and Battery goes dead after sitting for three days
Go with Monroe shocks at a much better price, but no new shock will match the worn fronts, so look at replacing them also. I have Reflex's on mine and love them, and the rears are air with hookups to factory connections. Air bags aren't compatable with factory level system in many ways. Hope your battery drain is fixed...like the others said, it's best to see a shop on that.

Mine would run a lot in the winter. I got tired of hearing it, so I took out the fuse. That should also stop the clicking in the dash. My car does not ride any lower than a car without this suspension.
