2004 Impreza's

Hi, I was wondering what the main differences between the 04 WRX and 2.5 vs the older ones, in regards to mods. And, where you can find good parts for modding the 04 Imprezas thanks Oh, and also, what are the main differences between the 2004 WRX and 2.5 RS? Aside of the engine, hood scoop, and seats.

Re: 2004 Impreza's

The 2004 WRX barely varies from the previous models. They moved the tachometer to the center instead of its old position on the right. They changed the seats (they now have integrated headrests instead of the old adjustable style. Perhaps this looks "sportier"). Obviously, they did the external modifications/updates that visually separate the 04s from the earlier models. That's essentially it. Same engine, same everything else. Most, if not all, 02-03 mods will work fine on 04 models. Note that I say most; if it won't work on one or the other, the website you're buying from will most likely state this.

Now, your modification question is incredibly general. You can find "good" parts for modding the cars anywhere, it's all a matter of how much knowledge you have. If you know what you want/need exactly, and you find product comparisons, read articles and just generally know your shit, you can pick and choose your parts from dozens of dealers. At the top of this page, there is a box entitled "Targeted Sponsored Links". You could start there if you wanted. You could peruse some other random sites, just search for "WRX tuning" on google. If you want a more staged approach, try www.vishnutuning.com

The differences between the 04 WRX and 04 2.5 are covered in detail on any product literature you can pick up at any Subaru dealer, and it's probably also on Subaru's website. The easiest way for you to tell the difference is by driving each of them.

Ah, I see. Well, would the extra 5k for the WRX be worth it in the end?

Re: 2004 Impreza's

In my opinion, yes. You get an already turbocharged platform with substantially better suspension. If you were to spend the price difference between the two on mods for the 2.5, you'd still be under powered or under...suspensionerd... compared to the WRX.
