APEXi turbo kit

Anyone have this kit, or experience with it? I am referring to the D16 kit, which is intended for 92-95 Civics. Does anyone have info about this kit, how much power/lag potential, what specific turbo does it use, also can it be adapted to a 96+ D16 engine, much like the GReddy kit?

Any help is more than welcome, Im on a turbo info blitz these days. All the info is making me crazy

I personally don't know anything about this kit...try searching on the Turbo D16 board or asking there:

Or try searching or asking on Honda-Tech, although they seem to be having problems right now.

Well, in case anyone else cares, I got some interesting info on the kit elsewhere. Here check it out: http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=99083&page=1

AshlandSi mentions use of an IHI flange that allows for future turbo upgrades...kind of a cool thing.

I dunno man, Im too early in my planning to say for sure. I like it alot, but I dont know how power greedy I will become down the road. I can say I would probably go with the APEXi over the GReddy, so I guess I am slowly narrowing down the choices. The Drag kit is sounding good though too, especially if I opt for the ball bearing option. (My friend has suggested the Drag kit also, and I tend to trust his advice alot when it comes to modding.) We shall see, my little car saga continues!

Isn't the quality of the DRAG kit kind of crappy though? I have heard tons of people complain of the build quality and how the parts don't fit very well at all.

I only wish I had that much money on hand! Believe me paul, I think it would probably be a kick ass kit, but for my purposes Im not sure it would be the best. Im still concerned that it would be overkill for me, Im only shooting for 200hp to the wheels, and definitely nothing above 300hp. So, I need to make a compromise, less lag may require making less max power. My car right now is intended strictly for the street, so I want it to be responsive in all areas. (Hence all the suspension work) Mere straightline power is not my main concern, but right now my little EX feels slower than a box of rocks.

lol, when I saw you responded, I thought maybe you had some kind of solution for me. Ah well, on to my endless research. It'll be a year before I touch the car again. (performance wise)

Thanks for the input though man, much appreciated.

That group buy from Ben is friggin sweet. However, for an auto D16, I don't think you can beat the Greddy kit. Cheap and you can get some power out of it. Dood, swap the tranny and get the Greddy kit for the price of the Drag. And you don't want a whole ton of power, so...

I cant give you any super technical info about it, but Turbo mag did a review a couple months ago...

Its a small ball-bearing turbo apposed to the small non-ball-bearing turbo of the Greddy..

Damn I cant remember what the Power ratings on the Turbo was now.. Tell you what.. When I get home I will try to find the Mag and give you the lowdown.. How much power at how much boost, etc..

Sorry I cant be more help now tho.
