salvage title cars will NEVER sell for very much... you have to keep that in mind even though it seems like a good deal because you can buy it cheap just dont forget that you wont get crap out of it when you sell it either

and WHY is it a salvage title? realize the newer the car is the more damage it takes for it to be considered a salvage title car. was the work done with quality when it was fixed?

bottom line... unless you want it for parts, STAY AWAY!!!!!!

so it was rear ended. i don't see the problem since the entire driveline is in the front. as long as it looks good now and doesn't have any problems with the back suspension then it should be good man. id buy it.

Re: 1997 civic ex 4000 salvaged wut do you think?

In most cases I would NOT buy a salvaged car. The only thing they are good for is a race car, since it aint worth shit(resale) or insurance will not give you any decent coverage for a normal price - most insurance compaines will not give you full coverage.

If it was in ANY accident I would want to see with my own eyes that the frame/uni-body is straight.

I wouldn't get it. There are several reasons. 1)Insurance....besides whats posted above...it's already salvaged, so if you get it a wreck...you get the idea. 2) Resale value. As stated above, your resale value will be crap. Salvaged cars are never have a good resale value. 3) There are lots of ways a crooked body shop can hide damage and an improper fix. To the untrained, it may look good..maybe perfect. But a trained proffesional can see it was fixed wrong. It ALWAYS costs more to fix someone elses mistakes. Also, with a crooked fix where they made only the outside look good, it's hard to tell how messed up it still is beneath. Furthermore, you can't see the unside of the frame. They may no have touched that. Have someone with knowlegde who you trust look it over and check it out with a fine tooth comb before you buy it. If it's a Salvaged 97 Civic EX, it must have been SMASHED in the rear bad. I have seen non=salvaged civics that where rear-ended I wouldn't buy, do to the bodyshop issue. I can imagine it's worse on the salvaged car. Lots of the time, with a Salvaged title, the main concern is buying it and fixing it as cheap as possible, then reselling it for a profit. This means qaulity can often be compromised.

$4k for a salvage title 97!!!! Your boy's on the pipe. I'd pay $1500 tops! That is of course you know where and how hard it was hit. Your call in the end just don't buy something with a new roof, always bad! Good luck.
