Angry Rust problems

I have a 2002 Frontier which is showing signs of rust problems. I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same. The rust is showing on the bottom front of the box, by the step bars. It is appearing exactly the same on both sides, so if it is from rocks etc., this is a poor design. I took it in to be repaired, but of course got the typical answer... This is from rock chips and is not covered. I have actual rock chips on the hood, which of course fall under this category, but wearing two inches wide on both sides, is a sign of a problem to me!

Angry RE: Rust Problems

I have also noticed a problem with Rust. Initially I had a small chip on my hood that has developed rust. Also I recently hit the side of my truck on a freeway side railing scraping the passenger side from front to back and within a few days, rust also developed there. Is anyone else having this problem also???

I can't speak as to any design problems (for the one that has rust on both sides)but from what I have read this is not a problem its just what happens to bare metal when its exposed to oxygen and moisture(even moisture in the air not rain or anyhting). What do you guys expect to happen to bare metal? This is normal and would be unusuall if it did not happen. Especialy if you hit a guard rail. I work restoring cars. When a car is stripped down to bare metal it IMMEDIATELY(or just about) starts to oxidyze(rust). This is why they make touch up paint for paint chips. you cant just leave them unprotected or they will ALWAYS rust. Once you notice a chip you have to clean it out and get the touch up on or it WILL rust like said this is usuall and normal for ANY car thats got chips/scratches down to the bare metal.
