96 Eclispe won't start

I have a 96 Eclispe that won't start. At this point the battery and alternator are fine, I have replaced my starter, ignition coil and I'm in the process of replacing my starter relay.

Does anyone have any advice for me in the direction I should be going assuming the starter relay dosn't fix my problem?

Thank you

Richard

Are your connections at the battery tight & clean of corrosion? I'd check that. What's your voltage at the battery with the car off? Does the car make a sound when it tries to start? Get your alternator tested also to make sure it's not the culprit of draining your battery.

The battery connections are clean, the voltage reading is 12.3v. The car does not make any sounds, the only sound being made is a single click from the starter.

I replaced the starter relay and the car still won't start. I then removed the starter and tested it again, the pinon gear is engaging.

FYI...i am able to push start it.

Is it possible one of the cable is bad? If so why would they just go bad?

Thanks for your help.

It sounds like your battery is dead or doesn't have enough juice to start it. Usually whenever a car makes a clicking, the battery isn't doing enough to spin the starter. Try a jump start see what that does.

I tried jump starting it twice with no luck. I really didn't leave the jumper cables connected very long 20 secs max. The car reacted the same way so I removed the cables.

Thanks for your help

You can get it push started? That's very odd, never heard of this before. What does the car do after you push start it? Try checking the voltage with the car running after you get it started. How long does it stay running? It should be around 13.5-14.0 volts. If it's not, then the alternator is the culprit of the battery problem, but that's odd that you can't start it. Also what did the car do when you attempted to jump start it? How did it sound?

Yes push starting works fine, once it's started it runs fine. I haven't checked the volts while it's running I will do that.

I was under the impression that the battery was good since I have taken volt readings between 12.3 and 12.5 volts.

When I tried to jump start it the starter made one click, just like it does when im not trying to jump it.
