Everytime I start my 97 Bonneville it will blow HOT air. The system will then resort to the correct air temp and the display will flash several times. The HVAC system will direct the flow at correct vent and airflow, but it is full heat everytime? Shut off car for any length of time, and restart at full heat? If I shut off HVAC before the car, I can wait untill the display starts to flash, then hit auto and it works perfect. This has been going on the entire time I have owned the car 1.5 years. All help will be gladly accepted!!

you need to take it to the dealership and have the HVAC system scanned for trouble codes. when the temp flashes it means there is a trouble code stored.

Re: HVAC first 30 sec
If you are still having this problem (1/27/04), drop me an email. I have been dealing with a very similiar issue for over 2 years. HVAC error codes does not help much.
