I have a 2003 prerunner with 15" rims. I wanted bigger tires so my wife surprised me and got me some BFG All-terrain tires. But they are only 29", dame. They look good with the tred but they are only 29" . From going through some of the threads it looks like I could get some 31 and maybe 32" on with no lifting.

My question is , is it worth me going out and spending money for 32". Is there a big difference look wise. Could you tell the difference? I just love the look of a big tire on the tacoma's.

Go with 31" I have them and they dont rub at all. They give you more clearence then 29" and look real nice. 32" will rub a lot, i deffinetly wouldnt put anything bigger than a 31" without lifting first.

Thanks, Another question. What kind of money are we talking about for a 2-4 " lift. For me to get to 32 or 33" tires I would first need a lift. And since I have no clue about this stuff would like to know how much cash I need to save.

Randy Ring and Pinion (the authority on rear diffs) will only warranty 31" tires on Toyotas. The reason being is bigger tires put too much torque on the rear end and will eventually cause the ring and pinion gears to fail. Go with 31's, you'll be happy you did.
This is why Toyota puts 31's on TRD's.

Lifts are expensive (in the neighborhood of $650 for a cheap one to $2500 for a state-of-the-art). and can cause you to invest in a gear ratio change, rear end costs, auto tranny issues...not worth it unless you want a money pit parked in your driveway.
