mmh, possible swap?

What do you all think the chances are of the 350Z 3.5L V6 fitting into a S13? And don't lecture me about how an SR20DET would be more cost effective blah blah because that's not my overall concern with this swap possibility.

anything is possible if you can afford it. but whats the point? just want it for bragging rights? i dunno i think it would be a waste of money myself, rb26dett would be a much better way to go if you had that money to spend... plus how are you gonna get your hands on one? its not like you can find an abundance of wrecked 350z's... hehe

Re: mmh, possible swap?

im kinda w/ dekand on this one, w/ the money that you have to put into getting a 350z, i would be way better to get a rb26dett. I mean whos going to complain about twinturbo. And for braggin rights thats way better than say a 350z stock motor.

I think it sounds like a cool project. Go for it if you can get the parts. The 350z isn't that old so it would be hard to find a full engine.
I have a better idea, lets switch the KA into a 350z shell and turbo it!

Re: mmh, possible swap?

anythign is possible with money, no point to a 3.5L Z engine though, a z32 TT engine has more power, but not worth it either

rb26 is worth it, plus u can say i have a skyline GTR under the hood

I'll never understand why anybody would even think about doing this... Why do people come up with these crazy ass swaps that have a terrible $/HP ratio? What the hell would be the point of putting a 350z motor into an s13? originality? I just don't see the point of putting so much money into something that your going to get so little out of.

to some people, originality is very important.
that's why i got a 240 and not a civic, though 240s are not original anymore

plus i think the 350z motor is better then the skyline motor. it makes the same hp but without the turbos. this thing is gonna kick ass when its got twins in the new GTR (no v8, fingers crossed)

Wtf?

i would never change what i want for what other people think or if it is played out.... if there were as many 240's out there as civics, i would still get one because i have always wanted one ever scicne ive had my 240Z

dont say you didnt get a civic and got a 240 instead cuz too many poeple had civics

no, i got a 240 because i love nissan and i did even before i knew what a 240 was. and because of their amazing bang for the buck.

if 240s were as common as civics, hmmmm, idk, it'd definatly make me think twice. i'm not sure what i'd do. i would most likely still get one, b/c they are amazing and i love them.

mr2s are pretty sweet too.......

i think its a good idea... a pricey one but still... especally condsidering its not really worth it unless its turboed too.

anyhoo ive seen the VG done on meggala.com but i doubt anyone really knows about the VQ considering how rare of a swap it is.

doesnt unstable hybrids have a deal where if your the first to do the swap labor is free? id call them and if your not the first you've found someone who knows about the swap

dont dis terrible HP/Cost-Time ratios because formula is the shiz

Re: mmh, possible swap?

i seen a vg30 in a 240 before, its a good swap. cheaper than rb26 and more hp, and completely street legal. i'd say go for it.

it will definately take some work to make it fit. i had a post a lil while ago about this http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=136413

Yeah they got SC kits for the VQ35DE out I think... not sure about the turbos, but give this engine a few more years and you'll see some great stuff out for it. Isn't there an on-going argument that the new Skyline GTR will be using this engine?

The engine (350z) is of course too big for a direct swap, and seeing that the RB26 (Skyline) won't fit without either really squeezing it in there or relocating a bunch of shit, it might be more trouble than what it's worth to get the 350 motor.

Also, not too sure on this but isn't the VQ like... REALLY heavy to be put into the 240?
