Re: greddy turbo

a stock honda motor can only take 10psi at max on the stick internals.. you need new upgraded fuel sys. and also need to reinforce the internals to run safley, also some upgraded ignition sys..

An LS can handle up to 12psi on a "properly tuned" turbo set up. the problem with most of the VTEC engines is the higher compression. I've also heard you shouldn't even run 10psi on a GSR unless you're going to rebuild the internals.

what internals would i need to rebuild if going to run 12psi of boost?

What about the wastegate? Could I change the internal for external?

internall is ok... but external is nice if you want to turn up the boost with a boost controller for that 1 run downt he track... Question for turbo2nr... if you did pistons and rods... why would head gasket matter... i meen, just get the right compression pistons instead of lowering compression with the gasket right? im still a noob... but im trying to learn all i can i wouldt think if you were alreayd doing pistons and rods that you would need a thick gasket

if you get the right pistons you don't need a thick headgasket to lower compression but you should get a good one.

Getting the thicker head gasket to lower the CR is a bandaid fix and is a bad way to acomplish the goal. However you do need a good head gasket to hold up to the increased cylinder pressures. And I think if you are going to buy a kit (which I suggest building a custom kit) then the Greddy is not so great. I would go with revhard or drag, they make nice kits best off the shelf kits IMO.

Re: greddy turbo

thats what i ment is that if you reinforce the internals you might as well change to a thicker head gasket to hold up to the added boost pressures..

Re: greddy turbo

I have to go with the greddy turbo kit because it's the only kit street legal. I'm not trying to build some crazy turbo race car. I simply just want to drive it daily and mess around with peeps on the streets. I'm planning on getting:
Greddy turbo kit
Greddy intercooler type 31v
Greddy profec b spec
Greddy type s b.o.v.
Greddy turbo timer
I was wondering if I needed anything else to run about 6-8psi, like ignition system or fuel?
Also I would like to change the internal wastegate for an external, I don't want to deal with boost creep. How could I change the wastegate to external
