Coilovers or lowering springs
This has probably been posted before but I have a different situation. I live in an area where the roads are flat out horrible. I am looking for something that will give my car good handling and lower it. But I dont want to kill my ride quality. I know that no matter what I do it wont be as good as it is now but I dont want to make it too bad.
what should I go with coilovers or lowering springs? |

I've had both in the past... I like the ride of my springs better (H&R sports) but I cant adjust them like coilovers... The only reason I bought coilovers at 1st for my old accord was because I thought I was moving back to NJ sooner than I will be. I wanted to be able to adjust the ride height up so I would not be eaten by a pothole... I have since sold the accord and put springs on my civic and I am very hapy with the ride..drop could be a little better...(shoulda got H&R race instead...)
So it's really up to you. You may want coilovers so you dont get stuck lowering your car too much and regretting it... you can just crank it up a bit and you're fine... But coilovers are alot more $$ than springs and shox... |

Re: Coilovers or lowering springs
Well see I think that if I were to get 2.5 drop for the back and 2.25 for the front then everything would be okay. But I just want to know if the lowering springs give a better ride than coilovers. and the durability and the fact that road salt eats coilover sleeves up right?

Re: Re: Coilovers or lowering springs
Springs are nothin' without a good set of shocks. If the roads are bad, don't drop more than 2" IMO, you will need a camber also for 2.5"/2.25" drop.
Yes, both type of coilovers can rust on the collar. Don't forget there are junk coilovers and real coilvers. |
