Brake Warranty
Just wanted to pass along some info regarding the warranty for break pads & rotors.
I recently took my 2002 Alero to the dealer for brake problems. My dealer told me that GM has had problems with Alero and Grand Am brakes. The brake pads and rotors are covered until 24,000 miles. (my car had 23,959 miles on it! Perfect timing!). If any of you have an Alero under 24,000 miles... take it to the dealer right away! |

Brake rotors
I worked as a courier and the company had a 2002 Alero I used. The front brake rotors warped around 45K after that I warped rotors every 10 - 15 thousand miles. (It had nothing to do with my driving!) Im not sure where the garage was getting their parts but I'm glad I'm not driving this car anymore! Someone else is. When I left the company the car had 90k on it . And had 5 or 6 trips to the garage for brake problems! I don't miss the shimmy and vibration!
P>S other than the front brake problems and minor other problems the car was ok. Good value for this size car. |

Re: Brake rotors
I as well had some issue when we first got our 99 Alero. Turns out there was a tsb back then that described the stock OEM pads being to "hard" casuing brake rotor warping. Since the softer pads were put in around 10k miles, brakes have been fine. Changed front rotors and pads myself at 85k mikes and just did the rears for the first time at 99k miles last week. All that was cheaper to get the parts and do myself total cost was around 200 bucks for all parts and took 3 hours for the front and about 1 for the rear
