Cylinder head torque specs/ cam line up before putting head on

Hello everybody.I was directed to this form And it is great. Here is my problem I have a 95 gst eclipse.I blew a head gasket.Had the head rebuilt. Now Iam ready to install it.I was wondering if someone can tell me what the torque specs are for bolting on the head.Next How are the cams to be positioned before installing the head and what notable characteristics like valves should be open or closed on which cylinders. If anybody has the secret info can you post it or send me some info or direct me to the info at [email protected] Thanks

Before i give any advise, and I give it cautiously, read the vfaq for doing a tbelt job AT LEAST 3 times. (www.vfaq.com) Getting the timing belt right is your single biggest concern in this job. Its not like "other cars" and its easy to screw it up. But on the bright side, I've done dozens of them with no failures yet.

The torque spec is dependent on what hardware you are using. I need to know if you are using new stock bolts, the used stock bolts (high risk), or ARP harware (7 bolt motor I assume). LEt me know, and I'll give you the details, or if i have more time later tonight I'll cover all of those.

You want the cams so the dowel pins in the gears are both at 12 oclock. The timing marks (usually painted white) should be facing each other at 3 and 9 oclock. Put the motor to #1 tdc. then you are safe to bolt it down.
