Question Stock SVX vs. Slightly Modded V6 Accord

1992 SVX lsl: 230 BHP, 228 lb-ft. torque
2001 Accord EX V6 Coupe: 200 BHP, ?? torque

The Accord has a short ram intake and aftermarket exhaust, while my SVX is bone stock. The Accord owner thinks he will annhilate me while I think that it may be close with me winning. Both vehicles are automatics, his accord is lighter than my SVX (3600 lbs!), and I cant afford to lose to a Honda...

J/K I think this race is gonna be good...i'll smoke him.

Sorry man...you're at a disadvantage in this one.

Yours: 230hp/228ft-lbs of tq
His: 200hp/225ft-lbs of tq

Yours: 3600lbs
His: (depending on trim) 2975-3200lbs

The only spot I see you having an advantage is at launch. You outweigh him by 600 to 400lbs. 30hp and 3ft-lbs of tq won't compensate. You're also quoting crank hp. Your AWD will have you losing more at the wheels. Just out-launch him and hope he never catches up...

I'd say the Accord should edge you out some as well.... But just race and see what happens!

Svx Vs Accord

The svx will take the accord...Ive seen it done with my own eyes, and these are the correct specs:

Layout front engine, front-wheel drive
Engine 3.0-liter sohc 24v VTEC V6
Horsepower 200 hp @ 5500 rpm
Torque 195 lb.-ft. @ 4700 rpm

Just give him a good launch sit back and win the race.

Actually, you're right about the TQ. I had the figures confused in my head between the 2001 Accord, and the 2003+ ones, with 3.2 liters.

Anyhow, 30HP and 33FT-LBS of TQ is still not enough to carry an extra 400 to 600lb difference, IMO.

Since they're both automatics, driver error isn't really a factor.

Fuggit...just race and see.

Its all gonna come down to the launch, I'd say you have a good shot at taking him though.

I think the Accord will beat the SVX unless there is a driver error.
Even in autos drivers can still screw up...at least on honda accords the driver can...if they don't change the shift to D3 then the car will shift at 5500 RPM....meaning the car never gets to its full V-Tec potential...but in D3 it shifts at 6400...I know because I have a 2001 Honda Accord....mines not V-Tec....but I kicked my friends ass becuase he screwed up...he has the 2000 V6 Accord V-Tec....

I didn't beat him by much...but i did beat him.

people seem to really rely there stats on weight and hp, i think you would beat the accord, matter of fact i think that you should clearly beat him. but then again you have an automoatic, so thats what makes me wonder more than anything.

i myself go off times, cause most people don't belive that a vr4 runs 13's cause it weighs 3800lbs but it does. so i go by 0-60 and 1/4mile times. and from what i know the svx is faster, but don't quote me on that. and theres also other things that make speed also. like were the weight is and down force depending on how fast your going and the level your at, up hill, down hill, i mean i out ran a 99 mustang gt with my 290lb friend in the car. i'm not saying it doesn't matter but lots of times your statistics can be way off when going by just weight and power.
