240sx Speedometer
It seems latley my 93 coupe has been a little faster than usual. to my amazement, as i haven't done anything but put gas in it. i pased one of those cop things that tell you how fast you are going, seems my speedometer is about 10 miles off, is there a way to fix this???
also.... the HUD system that came on some s13's usdm and jdm... A. are they good or bad b. if you get a JDM one could you calibrate the numbers to be MPH c. if you have normal gauges, can you BOLT on a HUD system d. if you changed your gauges, isn't that odometer fraud?? (here in PA they record your miles for each inspection) Thanks, G.N. |

my 240's odo stopped working (or worked intermittently), i told the guy who was buying it and it's all cool. the odo doesn't work in my z, and on the title it says "exempt from odometer disclosure". all cool. not sure about your other questions, maybe someone else can answer them. 10 mi off? maybe you have very big tires knocking off the spedo... or you just need your spedo tuned. you can adjust it to what you need, i forgot how tho.

In some states , once a car is about 10 years old or older, you no longer need to state the mileage. Also be careful with Jdm cluster swaps, some tachs don't work with some engines. It's best if you can match the two.

I thought about the big tires thing, i use to own a toyota pickup with 33 inch tires but it was only 5mph over the speed limit. I have the stock black steel rims with missing hubcaps, its for that GDM look (ghetto domestic market) and pirelli touring tires there only 15's so i don't think it was that, 10MPH is alot. It is an automatic, untill i get my sr. so is there a chance the tranny is slipping and causing that?i've felt sliping trannys it don't feel like that. i maxed it out on a old farm road in 4th gear the needle hits the dashboard. i alwase thought there was a governor in 240's. well thats all i got thanks guys

they are supposed to have governors at 115-125 somewhere in there, but its possible to break the governor by going 115 downhill and stay on the gas and let your inertia speed you up, once you get over your governor by about 5-10 mph it'll just not work anymore, not the safest thing to do but if you really wanna get rid of the governor it works, but it sounds like someone already broke yours or got a new ECU or something
