Park/Run, Wipers

Good Evening (assuming it is evening when you read this... ahem....)

I own a 1990 Cavalier, and I am having some minor problems with the windshield wiper system. Everything operates normally but for one thing; the motor's ability to 'park' the wipers. Rather, when I shut the wipers off, they simply stop in thier present position, even if it may be in the middle of the windshield (this applies to both normal opperation and 'mist' control).

I tried replacing the motor with an identical unit that I was able to find at the wreckers, however this did not help my problem in any manner. I know for a fact that the motor is recieving its acc. voltage, but that is about all I know for shure.

Is this a common issue, and thus I have simply lucked-out by purchasing another motor that has the same internal problem, or have I overlooked a possible fault in the actual wiper switch itself, or even something else I have not thought of?

Wipers park Problem

Hiya,
Did you manage to fix your wipers as -

I'm having the same problem with my 1996 Z24 Cavalier.

Sometimes the wipers park properly under the hood then they all of a sudden get it into their head to park right in front of the driver in the middle of the window. :-(

Any ideas on how I can fix apreciated !!

My 03 wipers would not shut off going 70mph. I needed a new modular and connector. Even though you got a new motor, your connector may be bad. Check into a new connector.

My 89 is the same way. One day while turning about 8 years ago there was a puff of smoke from the steering column and my wipers came up real slow, then returned to the park position. I went home and tore everything apart looking for a fire hazard. I found nothing so I put it back together and prayed to the fire gods. Since that puff and one final return to park they have since stopped wherever you turn the switch off. You will develop your wiper parking skills very quickly.
