1989 escort warning bells

Hi people i was working on a 1989 ford escort and all i did was put a new stero in using an after market wiring harness i install these all the time so i no its not the install. Befor i started i noticed that the button in the door was hanging out by the fuse box this button is for the open door warning bells the guy that owns the car said that he uninstalled it because when the door was closed the bells went on and when it was open they didnt sound. after the stero install the bells started working again and i cant get them to stop all i can do is pull the fuse but then the seat belts wont go up. So my question is do the bells go through the stero speakers or is it seperate and can anybody give me a helping hand Thanks Beak23

Re: 1989 escort warning bells

I had the same problem with an 87 the thing would not quit dinging even with the doors shut. I'm not sure if your 89 is the same body style but I unplugged the box. If I remember right it was above the glove box behind the little storage area
