It should be the regular JDM H22a (non type-s) cause the Type-S has a red cover and the usdm has a regular black if i'm not mistaken. As for the year there should be some "sundial like" markings on the front of the engine. There should be 3 of them; they're circles with numbers around and an arrow pointing to a specific number (2 of them should tell you the year ie. "9" on one and "6" on the other is from 1996). Hope my babling helps you out.

Re: which h22 do we have here????

F20B from the 97-00 Accord SiR-T had a blue valve cover, the type-S H22A had a red, and the other H22's had black, so it could just have another valve cover on it, but Civicspoon nialed the dating ID. on the leftish side there are a sries of small circle, the first should be the date it was cast.

P5M is just a "parts" code. Like th B16's have P30, PR3-4 and the ITR's have PR3-3, GSR P72 etc...usually they maych the ECU code.
