Whining noise when in reverse.

Lately, when I put my car into reverse and start backing up, it makes a loud whining noise. It doesn't do it in any gear except reverse.

On a side note, my car also somtimes makes a jiggling, or rattling type noise when cruising, and also a rattling noise around 2.3k rpm in certain gears.

The only mods I have are DC Sports Cermic Header, Thermaltake Cat-back, and an Injen CAI.

Thanks

Ummmm, I'm no expert, but every car I've ever drove has made that noise when in reverse. I believe they all make that noise.

My car does that, but while heavily turning in reverse (backing out of a parking spot)....

teh whining is due to teh super low gearing in reverse. Least thats what ive been told and yea most cars do it so do it worry.

Well, they whining noise is high pitched and very loud, not like a regular whining noise in reverse.

Re: ...

Reverse is loud because its a straight cut gear, imagine driving a race car with all straight cut gears. The trans will be as loud as open header(s) or louder.

Always shift to 1st before shifting to reverse.

For the rattlimg noise, check your cat. heat shields when the car is cool.
