Hey All, I need you all to help me decide what car I shoud buy for my first car. I haven't got much knowledge of cars so plz fill me in...
I really like 1995 Nissan Silvia (s14) and 1993 Nissan Skyline GTS (R32) at the moment and they are affordable for me in New Zealand. 1995 Nissan Silvia has DOHC engine and 2.0CC 1993 Nissan Skyline has V6 engine and 2.0CC What's the different between DOHC and V6? And what is better overall? I think Silvia is V4??? Im not sure but i think that cuz most cars are v4. Is there much difference in V4 and V6??? I need a car which is reliable, good performance, good front and back foot space. A car it can be good for just driving but also can race every now and then. WHICH CAR IS BETTER OVERALL??? Features, engine and everything else.. So please give me suggestion, information on these 2 cars, Which car shuld i buy for my first car that i will drive for at least 3-5 years. And fill my empty mind THANK YOU

Re: Nissan Silvia Or Skyline
The Skyline uses an Inline 6- it is only 2.0 litres which makes it not a hell of a lot of good- the engine is heavy and is probably slower than the Silvia- the Skyline is also not a good choice for someone looking for a first car because RWD Skylines are far too tail-happy. The Silvia- like 99% of other four cylinder cars uses an Inline 4- if it doesn't have a Turbo then it will be an SR20DE- a much nicer engine than an RB20DE IMHO.
The real differences between 4 and 6 Cylinder engines is the wieght- more Cylinders=more wieght, in most cases more power and torque (Because more Pistons are driving the car)however in the case of RB20 (Skyline vs SR20 (Slivia) there is no difference in displacement. I think the Silvia probably would offer marginally better performance than the Skyline- simply because it is lighter. Any Nissan is reliable really (except the Serena- which is a van anyway) and the running gear is somewhat bullet proof. Since you are looking at Used Imports there will probably be bucketloads of Luxury items- so don't worry about that. Neither the Skyline nor Silvia are what you'd call spacious- but they have similar amounts of Cabin room- in spite of the Skyline being a much bigger car. So my advice is go for the Silvia

Re: Re: Re: Nissan Silvia Or Skyline
I would have to the say Silvia is a better car, espicialy if its your first car.
Its smaller, lighter, simpler and so easier to drive, cheaper to run, and when compared to a GTS skyline significantly faster.
