B18A1 Engine Swap to B17A1
Alright i have a 91 integra LS with a B18A1 which has 130 hp at 6000rpm i believe.. Anyways my buddy found me a 92 integra LS which has the B17A1 which has 140hp @ 6300rpm.
Now i was wondering.. Should i buy the other car take out the engine and other parts that i could use, sit her on a stand in my garage and mod it up? Is the b17 better than the b18? I understand its 10 more horse. Input would be appreciated. thanx Tim |

Re: B18A1 Engine Swap to B17A1
If it has 10hp more then it sounds like a B18B1. the B17A1 was the motor that came in the 92-early 93 Acura Integra GS-R which made 160 hp and was the first V-tec of its kind in the states.Your B18A1 in your 91 Integra is pre-obd and the 92-early 93 are obd-1.late93-95 was obd 2. If its the B17, then go for it, but if it's just a B18B then don't worry about it. If you are looking for a power fix then may I recomend geting a mild port and polish job w/ .010 in milled on the head, and a set of adjcam gears. this should be good for about 20hp when tuned properly and you'll pick up about 5mpg as far as gas goes. then if you want to do the big three(i.e. intake, header, exaust) then thats good for another 15hp. so you would be in the range of 165hp and you would have enough torque to get you the early lead, and beat any GS-R.
You'r V-8 can't touch this!!!! Honda Integra XSi |
