4.3L to 350 engine swap
I was wondering if it was possibe to install a 350 in my 97 1500 pickup.
It is 4x4 and a 5 speed. Will i be able to use the same tranny? |

I myself have done 3 V6 to V8 conversions, but they were all on the newer style Silverado's. Converted from the 4.3L V6 to a 4.8L V8 once and from a 4.3L V6 to a 5.3L V8 twice. All 3 times, the same transmission was used, the 4L60E. Chevy has been using the 4L60E for awhile so you shouldn't have to get a new tranny for a 350 swap if this is what you have.

I am trying to swap out my 2001 GMC 4.3L V6 for a 2001 GMC 5.3L V8. I am wondering how intensive it will be and if it is even worth it. I am also wanting to keep my tranny because I think it will be compatible but will it be fully? And if not what will be lost? I also have the tow package option on my truck currently and want to know if the swap will effect it.
Thanks for any help! |
