I'm a newbie!
I just bought a 1995 240sx for $1500.00,almost mint cond. by the way im 40 and have 3 kids and i'm on a budget.question #1 is thier a super charger kit for this car?#2 im old school "no replacement for displacement " hence forthe , why import a junk yard motor *sr20det* from japan.#3 should i build my ka24de ? thanks

![]() 1. No, there are no supercharger kits for the KA24DE. There are plenty of turbo kits available but currently no supercharger kits. A member over at NICO (Nissan Infinity Car Owners) tried to make a custom supercharger kit for the KA but it didn't work very well. 2. Exactly. Personally I don't see why you would want to downgrade from 2.4 liters to a 2.0 liter engine when you can easily turbo the 2.4 liter KA. We all have our own opinions though and I'm not bashing anybody who would rather have the SR. 3. IMO, yes, build the KA. The KA has a ton of potential. Hell, you can even build it enough to go beat your buddies still running their huge V8's ![]() Good luck on whatever you do and once again, welcome to the site

check out www.realnissan.com for those turbo kits, they have good pricing for a budget. welcome to the forum. too bad you won't decrease displacement, the ca18det, is a great budget engine with great potential. in the long run tho, the ka24de(t) will probably be cheaper parts-wise.

Ive heard of good deals before but damn! I also would say to turbo the KA. I just have a fondness for it, plus I'm unsure of buying a motor ive never seen or seen running.

definately rebuild the engine and throw on a turbo, I recommend a garret turbo, possibly a T04E, they are very nice and you'll only hear good things about them... oh yea, and they are CHEAP! woohoo! good luck man

Welcome, $1500 what a deal!
Good luck on the KR project, be careful on the money side! Rebuilding the KR to accommodate the boost plus consider the amount of money that is needed for the turbo kit for the KR will be some good sum of money. Not that I’m a SR bias, just something to consider due to the fact that you got such a good deal on the car you might not want to blow the saved money on an expensive project when there are other alternatives. not to be a dick about this, but swapping in an SR is way more expensive than turboing the KA
oh and why you keep saying KR?

you can get a T04E garret turbo for 1500 or so, then just get an intercooler and your set(wouldn't even be over 1000 if you look around), and really you could just have someone set the turbo up for you and do the intercooler yourself so maybe not WAY less but you'll save money with the turbo KA

hey thanks for the info ! the car was brokered through United Auto @ 262 south main st east windsor CT P#8606233301 rodney hanna is the guy that hooked me up.eastren states auto auction is located in east windsor CT. $500.00 deposit and 3 weeks and i had my car.
Man im impressed, love this 240sx,and after researching about the ka24de im convinced its the only way to go! i'll post some pics off the car soon . Again appreciate the help. |

Also in my research i'v heard that the ka24de has forged crank and rods and that doing a piston replacment is all you need to do . Q #1 whats the max boost i can do with stock internals, Q #2 some say the intake manifold is inadiquate,Whats the fix?Q #3 what other tranny's are their,and how stout is the stock 5 speed tranny and rear end(meat ball)?Agent Bondoo7 out .
